Talma ma (is) nagyot alakított

Pasini/Corsi/Espargaro/Olive-nak illett volna lehagyni Faubelt

Rossi's Ultimatum
by dean adams
Saturday, October 13, 2007Reportedly, Valentino Rossi has recently laid an ultimatum at the feet of Yamaha: Build a more competitive bike or he'll ride elsewhere in 2009.
The BBC quoted Rossi as saying, "Yamaha have to show me something now, make a good bike for 2008. If nothing changes, I can look for another opportunity."
Rossi's current Yamaha contract is up at the end of the '08 season. Will Ducati's dominance of the title continue?
To be honest, it isn't just Yamaha that has grossly underestimated the capabilities of the Ducati MotoGP machine in 2007. Nearly all of the Japanese manufacturers have stood trackside and watched Ducati and Casey Stoner pull yards on them any time the bikes leave the pit lane. In a nutshell, what relatively tiny little Ducati has done is build a screamer 800cc engine that has both terrific power and the ability to do race distance on the small fuel allotment now given MotoGP bikes. Neither Yamaha or Honda have been able to pull this off in 2007.
Rossi seems to feel that Yamaha have been too conservative, telling the Beeb: "If we want to win the title again then we need the people in Japan to put in more effort. We need to be more aggressive and brave in the development decisions."
The last eighteen months have been an interesting period of Rossi watching. He's gone from winning multiple titles in a row, recognized as the best rider in racing (and quite possibly the best of all time) to losing the 2006 title to Honda and Nick Hayden, surprisngly crashing out in the final race of the season. And—what's worse—he's now had to concede the 2007 title to Stoner with three races remaining. This is not a trend curve Rossi wants to see continue.
Certainly his home-country pals at Ducati tearing the title away and their exploits being splashed across Italian television and newspapers, while his troubles slide into 'and in other MotoGP news ...' territory hasn't gone down well with Rossi. In his book, What If I'd Never Tried It?, Rossi dismissed Ducati Corse as a mini-HRC; too antiseptic, too concerned with engineering and not focused on building a team around a rider. That faint sound you now hear in the background is Ducati race boss Claudio Domenicali chuckling.
On the plus side, Yamaha have done an admirable job of introducing their pneumatic-valve engine mid-season this year--with very limited in-season testing available to them. This bodes well for Yamaha being able to unleash the hounds and chase down Ducati next season.

Ryder Notes: Welcome to the Stoner Age
by julian ryder, on the ground in oz
Sunday, October 14, 2007Casey Stoner sometimes looks as if he has the worries of the World on his shoulders. Even when he's won a Grand Prix he can look slightly disgruntled with life and a good deal older than his 21 years. Not today. With the title safely in his pocket, Casey was able to enjoy a triumphant homecoming in front of a record home crowd. Most of the 50,000 people lining the wonderful tarmac trace of Phillip Island found their way onto the track and under the rostrum to greet the first Aussie winner of an Aussie GP since the days of Doohan.
As he walked out onto the podium Casey saw a solid mass of people and his face lit up in a beaming smile. Was it as good as winning the title? "Almost better!" He looked young again. Not that it was an easy win. There was that big crash in practice that left him hurting and needing painkillers to walk upstairs. Then there was the wind, which moved the front of his Ducati about a couple of times as he leaned into turn one.
There was also the small matter of a charging Nicky Hayden having what looked like his best race of the year. Nick leaped up to second from his fourth place on the grid and was the only man who looked like he could hang onto Stoner. For eight laps he held the gap at 0.3sec. Nicky felt comfortable, the best he has all year, and really thought he had a shot at winning the race. More significantly, he had no reason to think he had to nurse his tires and from where he was sitting Casey's Ducati was looking nervous. The very least he expected was a chance to fight for the win in the closing stages. Then his engine started to tighten and his lap times went up by a second and Rossi came past.
Three laps after the first warning the motor stopped with a dropped valve. and Nicky rolled to a halt. A couple of very understandable punches were aimed at the Honda's tank as he rolled to a halt, the frustration of having such high expectations dashed really got to Nicky. Back behind the doors of the pit garage, says father Earl, he was the angriest he's been since Portugal last year.
Nicky's troubled laps and eventual exit left Rossi in second nearly three seconds adrift of Stoner and he never got any nearer. In the last third of the race he was able to engage cruise control while Valentino struggled with a tyre that was spinning excessively in the fast lefthanders and couldn't hold off a charging Loris Capirossi who this weekend looked like his old self. The wolfish grin was back as he told the English speaking press that the stories that he didn't want to 'give gas' now he was a father were 'f******* s*****'. Loris also had a view on the hot gossip of the weekend, that Rossi will run on Bridgestone tires next year: he thinks it's more than speculation, he thinks it's a done deal. More on that subject next week as the Grand Prix Commission prepares to meet next Saturday in Malaysia.
One thing is certain, though; Casey will be looking like a teenager and he will be quick.

Ryder Notes: Rossi & Pedrosa on Stones In '08?
by julian ryder, on the ground in oz
Saturday, October 13, 2007Is the tire subject getting boring yet? yes? Well try this bit of info: it is possible that Valentino Rossi will be on Bridgestone tires next year. 'The situation is not clear,' he said, 'we must decide.' Then he looked only a ittle bit uncomfortable when Casey Stoner stated that he was 'disappointed with some riders' who win loads of championships on one make and want to change as soon as they have a tough time. He didn't say how many people make 'some', but the men sat next to him were Rossi and Pedrosa.
Dani, also suspected of wanting the Japanese tires, said 'Maybe we will continue with the French tires.'
They are the three on the front row for tomorrow which, Valentino assures us, will be a 'sliding race' on a circuit that is the toughest of the year on any brand of tire.
Casey is quite lucky to be able to race after a crash in morning practice when he got off the dry line at Siberia and went over the handlebars. He's limping a bit but otherwise is unhurt. Afternoon qualifying was the first totally dry session of the weekend; Stoner tried to use his qualifiers early but was baulked slightly on both runs. As usual, he said he was content to be on the front row.
Nicky Hayden had a good run to fourth using a new swingingarm that helps traction and the consequent loss of stability on the brakes doesn't matter too much at Phillip Island where there is only one hard braking effort - at the Honda hairpin. The Champ is always fast round this track, so don't count him out tomorrow. If you forget what happened on qualifiers and look back to who did what on race tires, Stoner looks the favorite and he'll have a record crowd to cheer him on.

Ryder Notes: The Spec Tire Rule Is Dead
by julian ryder, on the ground in oz
Friday, October 12, 2007Looks like the one tyre rule ain't going to happen. There is enough political will to make sure it wouldn't get past the MSMA--as long as they considered it as a technical issue. It's boring committee stuff, but the MSMA can scupper a proposal before it even gets to the Grand Prix Commission.
There may be a change in the tire allocation rule--probably an increase in number of tires--to save a bit of face. Dorna will claim a victory, saying they've knocked the tire companies' heads together and improved the situation.
That doesn't alter the fact that Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa now distrust Michelin for a variety of reasons, not just the narrow spectrum of whether their tires work but things like the wet tires that worked at Le Mans and Motegi not being available at Donington. Those relationships will take some time to repair.
Meanwhile, the first day of practice featured the usual Phillip Island four seasons in one day weather. The only constant is that Casey Stoner was awesomely fast in both sessions.
He's using a new smaller fairing to cope with the crosswinds that ruined his Assen race. Nicky Hayden got the bigger fairing he's been asking for all year but, for the same reasons as Casey, doesn't want to use it here. Maybe next week on the long straights of Sepang.
Chris Vermeulen is sporting a tribute to Sheene paint job, helmet and leathers. The bike is the light-blue and white of the 1974 RG500 and Chris is wearing Sheene's helmet paint and leathers with the white panel on the chest. He's even got the number seven with a stroke through it like Barry always had.
Fiat Yamaha are also running a special paint scheme to publicize the rebirth of the Abarth tuning marque. There's something very right about a red and white Yamaha heading down to turn one alongside a light-blue and white Suzuki...

by staff
Monday, October 08, 2007This just in from ten Kate:
HANNspree Ten Kate Honda reveals 2008 dream team
Following weeks of speculation, HANNspree Ten Kate Honda is pleased to announce its full rider line-up for the 2008 World Superbike and Supersport Championships.
The Netherlands-based team will run a three-man squad in the Superbike class to include MotoGP contender Carlos Checa, current World Supersport Champion Kenan Sofuoglu and defending British Superbike Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari.
Checa has had a consistently successful career in the 250cc, 500cc and MotoGP championships. The Spaniard has 24 podium finishes under his belt and hopes to add to this tally in the World Superbike series.
Sofuoglu has already proved his riding talent by claiming the 2007 World Supersport crown. The Turkish rider had his first taste of victory on the Honda CBR1000RR when he clinched a race win in the Dutch Superbike Championship at Assen in September.
Kiyonari is already more than familiar with the 1000cc machine, having ridden for the factory-supported HM Plant Honda team in the British Superbike Championship since 2005. The 2006 champion is leading this year's series with one round remaining.
The 2008 HANNspree Ten Kate Honda World Supersport team will consist of Australian rider Andrew Pitt and current British Superbike star Jonathan Rea.
Former World Supersport Champion Pitt will return to the series with the aim of reclaiming the title and securing a seventh consecutive Supersport win for Ten Kate Honda.
Ulsterman Rea will join HANNspree Ten Kate Honda from the British Superbike Championship - where he is the youngest ever rider to secure a pole position, podium and race win.
Following the incredible feat of winning the 2007 World Superbike and Supersport Championships, HANNspree has made the decision to renew its title sponsorship deal with Ten Kate Honda until 2010. With such impressive talent on board, HANNspree Ten Kate Honda looks set for a successful 2008 season.
Ronald ten Kate - Team Manager
"After such a successful 2007 season, we wanted to build a team that brings the same kind of success for 2008 and beyond. This is why we have chosen to go with some very young riders in both the Superbike and Supersport class. We are confident that we can do well in developing these riders. We are really happy that after one year working with HANNspree they are confident enough in the team's work and ability to renew the contract for three years. We share the same goals and ambitions and are very much looking forward to 2008."
Fabio Scatola - Vice President of HANNspree Europe
"I am pleased that we have such great talent signed up for 2008. We have had an incredible first year with Ten Kate Honda and we are looking forward to achieving similar success in the years to come."

More Abe Death Details Emerge
by dean adams
Sunday, October 07, 2007More details on Norick 'Norifumi' Abe's apparent death are becoming known now that the news of his death has reached Europe and America.
News reports from Tokyo and Yamaha insiders say he was killed in a street accident when a truck pulled a U-turn directly in front of him, and Abe collided with the truck--the same type of accident that killed Mike Hailwood in 1981.
It has been reported that Abe was riding either a motorcycle or a scooter in the incident.
Abe was most well known for his raace with Kevin Schwantz and Mick Doohan at Suzuka in the mid-1990s when Abe's aggressive riding and to say-the-least unconventional riding style won him many Japanese fans.
After racing in WSBK last season, Abe raced this season in Japan, where was a fairly well known racing celebrity.

Ryder Notes: All Hail King Casey
by julian ryder, on the ground at japan
Sunday, September 23, 2007Casey Stoner had his worst race of the year at Motegi as he finished sixth and watched his team-mate win, but emerged as World Champion. And not just any old World Champion but the second youngest Champ ever after Freddie Spencer and Ducati's first ever Grand Prix champion.
Casey looked good at the start of a race that commenced in wet conditions but the track dried rapidly and for the first time in MotoGP we had a race held under the flag-to-flag wet-weather rules when the track went from wet to dry, not the other way round.
The shake-up started on the seventh lap when Nicky Hayden was forced in by the weather. By then Stoner and Melandri were being hunted down by Rossi. The Doc was riding superbly on well worn wet tires and put a hard pass on Casey at the end of the back straight. Casey was already thinking about going in to change bikes and was happy to have his mind made up for him by his crew. Marco went in too, leaving Rossi leading and Pedrosa second.
Advantage Michelin--their wets were wearing better on what was now a dry line. Capirossi timed his stop just right, he went in fifth and two laps after he came out he was first and seeing +10 on his pit board. Randy de Puniet performed the same trick and despite two early off-track excursions came out of the bike swap frenzy second.
Advantage Bridgestone.
Then the weird stuff happened. Rossi ran on at the end of the straight and came back into the pits. Pedrosa, the last man not to swap his bike, went over the handlebars in the final corner and may have broken a bone in his foot. Rossi waggled the bars and looked down at the front tyre, the crew swarmed all over the bike but sent him out without changing anything. He kept on running on at the end of the straight and dropped through the field.
Meanwhile third-place Toni Elias was under severe pressure from a charging Sylvain Guintoli on Dunlops. WTF was going on? Well, Dunlop are not covered by the tire allocation rule so can do what they want, which was send Sylvain out of cut slicks. The Michelin men were sent out on cut slicks--which of course had to be slicks from their 31-tire allocation that the tire technicians had modified to comply with the official definition of 'intermediate' (the rules specify a 'land-to-sea' ratio).
Most of the Bridgestone boys went out on slicks.
After the race, Nicky was watching a TV reply with dad Earl and saw Rossi waggling the bars and immediately said 'That's what I thought too, I thought I had a flat!' As Nicky was the first Mich' user home in ninth place I think it's safe to assume that their cut slicks didn't work as intended. Dunlop only just missed out on a rostrum as Elias set the fastest lap of the race to make sure of third.
After the race the rostrum men were all delighted, despite them all changing teams at the end of the year. Loris even stayed to watch Stoner's press conference at which Casey was relaxed, looked considerably younger than his 21 years (a trick he'd forgotten how to perform in recent weeks) and only had one dig at 'people who didn't believe in me.' He also took a pop at the proposed one-tire rule, comparing it to the BSB's R6 Cup.
There were a few nice moments for those who still like to see a bit of sportsmanship. Stoner's victory t-shirt names Rossi among his heroes, something Rossi acknowledged by saying if he couldn't win it was nice that a fan of his did. Nicky Hayden made a point of stopping on the slow-down lap to congratulate Casey; 'Just a bit of respect, he certainly deserves it. Kinda like passing on the flame.'

Ryder Notes: Guess What. It's Those Tires Again
by by julian ryder, on the ground at japan
Saturday, September 22, 2007
Despite the fact that Michelin are all over the front row and that there were two Michelins on the rostrum a week
ago, Dorna chose today to announce that they are proposing a one-tire rule for MotoGP. As far as I can ascertain,
none of the tyre companies involved in MotoGP: Bridgestone, Michelin and Dunlop, had any knowledge of this before
midday today and none of them will say they are in favor of such a rule. A joint statement is awaited.
All of which distracts from the fact that Dani Pedrosa has been blindingly quick all weekend, Rossi and his crew
have turned the Yamaha around overnight and its now able to use the grip of its tire, and Nicky Hayden has his
fourth consecutive front row.
Casey Stoner, who could win the title tomorrow, has shown he's human by failing to get a set-up he's happy with,
qualifying on the second row and walking straight out the back of his pit after qualifying. But as the weather
forecast gives an at least even chance of rain tomorrow, none of this might matter.
But, inevitably, I turn back to the tire rule proposal. Why has it been put forward? Ezpeleta's statement refers
to 'some factories can't have tire they think are competitive.' Who are they then? Mr. Mumane of HRC says he's against a one-tyre rule but wants to give his riders the best equipment. You can't imagine that Suzuki, Kawasaki
or Ducati are keen to change, and Yamaha have said publicly that they are staying with Michelin. We are told that
the issue will be sorted out in Malaysia.
My opinion? It's all taking attention away from the brilliant job done by Casey Stoner, Ducati and Bridgestone
as a team this year. Take any one of those three elements out of the equation and you don't have a winner. The
Dorna proposal smacks of panic and the only justification for it is, as I keep hearing, Rossi finished 30 seconds
behind the winner at one race this year.

ő most mennyivel ül amúgy fabulánál is jobb motoron?
