Ez egy mennyire jó hozzászólás onnan:
"In a typical modern technology company, the engineers tell the product designers the things that are possible, then the designers figure out what features make sense and can sell and they prepare the final marching orders for the engineers. The thing that Jobs, and only Jobs, could do was be the only designer making the decisions and dictate the engineers their terms. People took him seriously only because of who he was in the 70s/80s - Because he 'fought for the users'. And that's also why everyone tuned in whenever he spoke. This gave Jobs that magical power of being able to convince people because they were tuning in and really listening. No other engineer or designer can do that. [Maybe Gates today. Or Maybe Zuckerberg/Dorsey in the next 20 years (I bet on Zuck)].
So the article gets that critical point right - iPad is successful only because of Jobs' so-called RDF. There are so many companies out there that have innovative products and true visionaries leading them, but none can sell the volumes that Apple has or create the excitement that Apple could.
Unfortunately, Jobs is no more. The aura still lingers, but the lack of excitement about the mac pro (probably the most forward design in desktop computing in the last decade), the meh attitude towards the 5c, the incremental tablet design - all point towards people no longer tuning in as much or as hard. When you hear rumors about what Apple's doing and what other companies (big G, Samsung, Microsoft) are doing, I get no sense that people care as deeply anymore - it's back to the 'Cheapest and most well defined sells most' from the 1990-2005 era.
What I really thank Jobs for is that he not only created a market for Apple, he took the brunt of justifying to the masses WHY they need those fairly esoteric/expensive products in the first place. That created profits for Apple, but that also created a market for Android and Samsung. It is doubtful that smartphones would see the adoption rates they did, without Apple+Jobs leading the charge.
And here we are talking about wearable computers every effin day. But WHO is going to sell them?"
Gyakorlatilag az egésszel egyet is értek.
