  Megjelent a FreeBSD 10. Újdonságok:

  1. official Raspberry Pi support.

  2. AWS EC2 can now use the freebsd-update utility to directly update EC2 images.

  3. clang is the default compiler and gcc is no longer installed by default.

  4. Unbound has been imported to the base system as the local caching DNS resolver. BIND has been removed from the base system.

  5. make has been replaced with bmak.

  6. pkg (apt-get like tool) is now the default package management utility. pkgng is the next generation replacement for the traditional FreeBSD package management tools, offering many features that make dealing with binary packages faster and easier. pkgng is not a replacement for port management tools like ports-mgmt/portmaster or ports-mgmt/portupgrade. These tools can be used to install third-party software from both binary packages and the Ports Collection, while pkgng installs only binary packages.

  7. Major enhancements in virtualization, including the addition of bhyve, virtio, and native paravirtualized drivers providing support for FreeBSD as a guest operating system on Microsoft Hyper-V.

  8. TRIM support for Solid State Drive has been added to ZFS. Spport for the high-performance LZ4 compression algorithm has been added to ZFS.

  9. The supported version of the GNOME desktop environment has been updated from 2.20.1 to 2.22.
