AMD have released some cache details for Orochi (Bulldozer uarch) via a patch to Open64:
L1D is 16KB, 4-way and uses 64B cache lines, with a 18 clock miss penalty. Barcelona's 64KB, 2-way with a 3 clock access latency and 11 clocks for a miss. Any clues as to whether that's good or bad, or what it could mean for L2 (since L2's shared), since it's quite a big change from K10?

AMD Encoder Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro Beta
I ran the Vista updates (still SP1 though), installed the latest ATI Catalyst drivers, installed Premiere Pro CS4, ran the updates, and opened a new HD AVCHD project I had been working on. I tested encoding a 1 minute video in 1080p, 720p, and PAL DV High Quality, first using the standard H.264 encoder, then the AMD Fast H.264 encoder. Here are the results:
AMD Fast H.264 encoder
1080p - 53 seconds
720p - 55 seconds
standard DV - 55 seconds
Standard H.264 encoder
1080p - 2 mins 5 seconds
720p - 2 mins 3 seconds
standard DV - 2 mins 5 seconds
So I am seeing a 230% speed increase, or in other words, it takes less than half the time to encode video using the GPU. The videos produced are of high quality and free of artifacts.

For user with only Windows 7 DVD, follow these steps, as provided by UkonCornelias:
1. Once Windows 7 Setup is loaded, press Shift + F10 keys at the first setup screen (which allows selection of language, keyboard and locale). A Command Prompt window will be opened.
2. Run Diskpart, the built-in disk partitioning tool of Windows 7 with the following command:diskpart
3. Type in the following command one by one, follow by Enter key to create a partition (text in brackets are comments only):
list disk (to show the ID number of the hard disk to partition, normally is Disk 0)
select disk 0 (change 0 to another number if applicable)
clean
create partition primary size=80000 (create a partition with 80 GB space; to use entire disk as one partition, omit the “size=value” parameter switch; use similar command to create more partition if needed or create in Windows 7 after installation)
select partition 1
active
format fs=ntfs quick
exit4. Type exit at command prompt to close Command Prompt window.
5. Continue Windows 7 installation as usual. Remember to just highlight and select the partition just created when come to partition screen. -

Aki klónozni vagy backup-olni szeretné a merevlemezét az használja az Acronis True Image névre hallgató alkalmazást. Egyszerű és ez a Norton Ghost-tal ellentétben ez tényleg működik. Klónozás után vígan indul a mindkét HDD-ről az XP, igaz szektorról-szektorra másol tehát eléggé lassú. 140GB körülbelül 3 óra. Ráadásul a Western Digital jóvoltából tök ingyen használhatjuk a programot.

"Intel announced its latest wave of CPU and chipsets today, so it's hardly surprising that AMD has also chimed in with a few details about the hardware it plans to release in early 2010.
Among the entries in its lineup is the X2 555 Black Edition CPU; AMD says it will be the company's "fastest-ever dual-core CPU," and if the company's naming history continues to be a guide, it will be unlocked and ready for overclocking. The Athlon II family will see three new processors: the quad-core 635, the triple-core 440, and the dual-core 255.
Also planned are further entries in the 5000-series line of DirectX 11–ready graphics cards, at "new and more affordable price points," according to press information. As AMD's 5700 and 5800 graphics cards, as well as the 5970 X2 are all higher-end offerings, this could be good news for people looking for midrage- or budget-oriented discrete graphics.
Following the first CPU and GPU introductions, AMD plans to roll out what it calls "the fastest desktop IGP platform" with its 800-series chipsets.
AMD has not yet provided specific dates for these releases, but hints that they're likely to start appearing sometime in late January."
