  ...és attól hogy tesztelt volna orrvérzésig máris megszületett volna a versenyképes autó? Ehhez általában nem kellenek jó mérnökök és megfelelő alkatrészek?

  "The 'big dream' was mutual between Craig and Jacques. When Jacques raced in IndyCars, the plan all along was for Craig and Jacques to create their own F1 team, with the financial backing of BAT and technical backing of Reynard. Reynard turned out to be a mistake, because it was written in the shareholder statutes that Craig didn't have the power to influence the technical direction of the team, despite him being the team boss. Sadly, Reynard wasn't up for the task, in F1 you need to give 110 percent and not 65.

  Still, the team did quite well, finishing 4th in the Constructor's championship in only their second season, the season regarded as the most difficult for a new team. They could have been even more successful if Honda had listened to Jacques earlier, with Jacques wanting them to build a lighter engine despite this affecting horsepower. Honda stubbornly stuck with their heavy, complicated engines, hurting car balance and thus performance. In the end, Honda finally took Jacques' advice and built a lighter and more competitive engine, only to freeze Jacques out of the team and then regret it only weeks later. We all know what has happened since...

  Bernie knew about Craig and Jacques' plan from the beginning, securing Jacques a seat at Williams, partly because of the plan (he would only temporarily be at Williams, waiting for Craig setting up their own team, that's one of the reasons why JV didn't wind up at Ferrari, not to mention why he turned down an offer to drive for McLaren in 1998 and beyond) and partly to create more PR for a sport that had seen its popularity decay after the Senna accident. The Villeneuve name didn't need any further introduction... And quite rightly, F1's popularity in 1996 hit the sky high."
