- BUG: Some phones experience MS Duo corruption after the firmware update. This seems to occur after transferring files over the supplied USB cable. Symptoms include erratic behaviour of the Media Player and problems with the file system such as corrupted or deleted files. Potential fixes are as follows:
- DUO FIX: Do not use the supplied USB cable to transfer files - use a USB memory card reader instead.
- DUO FIX: In Device Manager / Disk Drives select Properties on the Sony Eri Memory Stick and then ''Optimize for Performance'' on the Policies tab. You will now have to use the ''Safely Remove Hardware'' in the taskbar before unplugging the phone.
- DUO FIX: Format the memory stick in the phone and then perform a Master Reset / Reset All. Note that this will erase all settings - perform a full backup beforehand. This should be used as a last resort and does not necessarily fix the problem.

Access your phone's firmware information

To find out which firmware revision your phone currently has installed, perform the following:

Where < and > represents pushing the joystick left and right respectively.

Sony Ericsson Update Service

Your firmware can be updated through the Sony Ericsson Update Service II (SEUS II). In order to use SEUS you will need to have internet access (preferably Broadband) and attach your phone to your PC via the supplied USB cable.

Note that the required firmware update drivers are present in the following directory after installing SEUS:

C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\drivers

If you run into problems, you may wish to download and install Sun's Java Runtime Environment separately.

If the firmware update fails part way through, retry the SEUS. If the update consistently fails you will need to perform a Master Reset on your phone. It is likely that you will be required to perform a Reset All - a settings reset is unlikely to do the job. It is recommended to use a tool such as MyPhoneExplorer to create a backup of the data on your phone before performing a Master Reset. Note that you will still lose any games, themes or ringtones present in your phone's memory.

SEUS II will currently install the following firmware revisions for UK phone brands:

Third Party Update Services

Third party firmware updates are available from a number of third party suppliers including DaVinci Team and Wotan Server. The use of third party solutions will theoretically void your warranty (although in practice the phone vendor is unlikely to notice) so should only be used in preference to SEUS for debranding purposes or updating a problematic phone locked out of SEUS by the service provider.

More adventurous members can flash their own firmware using the FAR file manager plugin. An excellent guide to this process has been written for those wishing to try the process themselves.

Firmware Customisation

A plugin for the FAR file manager has been written to give access to the file system of your phone through a standard DCU-60 cable or via a COM port (e.g. Cruiser cable). This plugin allows you to modify the behaviour of your firmware in a number of ways, including the following:
- Remove the SMS storage limit for your phone
- Remove the camera shutter sound
- Remove the DRM limitations found on Vodafone ringtones.
- Add certificates to your phone
- Change / remove default sounds and Java applications on your phone.
- Change the main menu appearance and functionality.
- Finalise a phone after a firmware update by a third party tool.
- Adjust the Photo and Video quality settings of the Camera driver.

Drivers

If you have not yet done so, installing the following drivers will allow your PC to access the media on your phone over the supplied USB cable:

Sony Ericsson D750/K750 USB drivers (K750 only)
Sony Ericsson W800 USB drivers (W800 only)

Follow the driver installation instructions carefully.

Digital Rights Management

Vodafone users should download Sony Ericsson's DRM packager to assign Digital Rights to their MP3s for use on the K750i.

Technical users may also use the FAR Plugin to modify their Customize.xml file and remove DRM checking from their ringtones. Thius can be done by changing the enable-ringtoneplayer-mp3 and enable-ringtoneplayer-aac entries to 'true'.

Mégis hogy? Nekem nem sikerult.

Eddig nekem egyik telómnál nem volt kikapcsolt állapotú töltés. Nekem a mániám, az hogy bármikor elérhessenek. egyébként a bekapcsolt töltésnek van sok előnye. Példul olyankor a csepptöltés közben fogyaszt a teló, ezért könnyebben tud szintentartó töltést csinálni a teló, hiszen időnként csökken a fesz, időnként felmegy... Annak a téves eszmének meg ne higyjél, hogy nem szabad kikapcsolnia a telónak a kimerüléstől... Semmi baja nem lesz, mert nem sül ki az akku! Nyugodtan lemerülhet, mert nem az alacsony fesztől kapcsol ki, hanem az elektronika letiltja, hogy tovább ne tudjon merülni, és ne kerülhessen kisülés közeli állapotba. Néha épp ezért érdemes full kimeríteni, majd jó sokáig tölteni, hogy a csepptöltéssel a cellafeszt beállítsd. Nem kell félni! Nem lehet elbaszni olyan könnyen az akkut, mert hülyebiztosra csinálták. Ha nem törődsz a töltés mikéntjével akkor is tud rendesen működni, legfeljebb 2-3 órával hamarabb beadja a kulcsot a teló azonos használat mellett, mint ha foglalkoznál vele. Nálam az 1 éves k750i akkuja a mai napig simán bírja a 6-7 napot az mp3hallagatás mennyiségétől függően!

Jegyzem meg, lehet szórakozni a firmware-cserével, de kérdés, h. megéri-e ezért a garanciát a sutba dobni...

A fényképezés hangját a néma mód aktiválásával tudodlevenni -kivéve, ha pannonos készüléked van, mert abban nem lehet.
A fókuszálás hangjával nem tudsz mit kezdeni. Amennyire tudom, ez mechanikus jellegű, tehát nem kikapcsolható.

Szeretnék érdeklődni hogy kinek milyen memória kártyája van a telefonban? Én ugyanis vettem egy 1gigás sony pro duo sticket [link] és valahogy lassúnak találom. Adatmásolás olyan 280K/s a max. A fényképeket is lassan csinálja aránylag. Ez normális vagy valami gyorsabb vagy másmilyen memóriakártyát kellene bele venni / tenni?

Most a gyári kártyával használom, de az ezelőtti K750 ben egy 1 Gigás sandisc volt. Kifogástalanul működött.

adatokkal nem tudok szolgálni, de arról már itt is volt szó, hogy a baj a mobilokkal van, amiatt nem tudsz jobb sebességet elérni (tudtom szerint). képmentésnél pl mindegy milyen gyors, mert úgyis a mobil a gyenge...és gépre is ugyanezért nem tudsz gyorsabban másolni, mert a mobil lassan fér hozzá (azaz lassú az elérése), nem vagyok jó ebben a témában, szal vki javítson ki! de sztem egy memóriakártya-olvasó megoldaná a problémát, de annyival az se lenne jobb, mivel pl az USB max beviteli sebessége is 480mbit/s tudtommal

Maga a Sony is elismerte már, igaz próbálják nem túl nagy dobra verni, hogy az 1GB és némelyik az alatti kártyáik nem hozzák a megfelelő sebességet (régebbi széria). A hibát a 2GB és fölötti tartományban már javították, így azok közül az összes már lényegesen gyorsabb, ilyet érdemes venni, vagy ha mindejképpen 2GB alatt maradsz, akkor SanDisk, még a P990-hez is ilyet adnak gyárilag, nem Sony kártyát!


Osama (#2036): Mit tekintesz szélessávnak? Örülnél ha a szélessávú neted olyan tempóval menne mint amire az USB képes, nem is beszélve az USB 2.0-ról amit ezek a telefonok papíron már tudnak...


Icons (#2041): Valóban a mobil a gyenge pont. Bár az a 280kb/s elég karcsú még így is, a 700kb/s körül szokott menni az átvitel az SE telcsiken függetlenül a memóriakártya típusától. Az USB átvitelre az az 480mbit/s kicsit sok, annál azért lényegesen lassab de a telcsinél jóval többet tud a memkari olvasó. A telefon sebességének kb. a tízszeresét simán hozza jó kártyával.

nekem kb 300K/s körül szokott menni. /325-335/ ennyit tud a teló.
a 64megás sandiskel is és a 2 gigás sonyval is/ 80mbps-os a kártya. a fényképezőgépemben viszont már jobban muzsikálnak.. mint a villám ;)
